“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
Anna Zalepa, Class of ’21, is a Biology Major at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA. She loves the beach and loves expanding her creative side with Hearts of Hope in service to those in need.
According to Anna, the club had its biggest turnout of almost 60 people, including faculty and staff, during a “Paint with A Purpose” event which honored St. Joe’s rugby player Mark Dombroski ’21 who died in March 2018. The chapter sent Hearts of Hope to Dombroski’s family. “People came up to me days after the paintings for Mark telling me how it helped them cope and continue to remember him,” Zalepa said.
In addition to the love and commitment Anna has brought to developing and expanding the Saint Joseph’s Hearts of Hope Chapter, she has inspired several other students to work with her on her leadership team. Anna’s hope is to leave a well-established Hearts of Hope Chapter at the university as her legacy. We think she will accomplish this and more.
